My sourdough bread addiction

Boudin Bakery SF

I started thinking about the sourdough bread after a trip in San Francisco. There is a bakery on Fisherman’s Wharf, “Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe” where you can see the bakers working on high hydration doughs. It’s amazing what they manage to do with dough.

When I came back home from California I started wandering on the web, trying to understand the concepts and the techniques behind the sourdough bread baking. I was not new to bakery of course, my grandfather was a baker and a pastry chef, so I grew up surrounded by bread, croissants, cookies, and all the “baking magic”.

I was baking bread regularly, every weekend, but not a sourdough bread. When I created my first sourdough bread, I was literally amazed by the complexity of flavours, colours and “sounds” (yes the bread talks to you when it cools down) of my “newborn” loaf. That was the start of an “obsession” for sourdough bread.

This “love story” with a loaf is the reason why I started this blog, to share my passion for sourdough bread (but not only that) with as many people as possible, to get and give hints, ideas, recipes.
